My Journey to Becoming a Software Engineer

May 8, 2023

Dear readers,

Welcome to my blog! My name is Kodirjon Abdullaev and I'm a software engineer based in Uzbekistan. I'm excited to start this blog and share my experiences and insights with all of you.

In this first post, I want to take you on a journey through my personal experience of becoming a software engineer. I was always interested in technology from a young age, but it wasn't until I was in college that I realized my passion for programming. I was fascinated by the ability to create something from scratch using code and seeing it come to life on a screen.

I started learning programming languages in year of 2016, and I also enrolled in a computer science program at my university. The coursework was challenging, but I found it rewarding to see my skills develop over time. I worked on various projects, including building my own website and creating a desktop app.Unfortunately, I was not able to graduate my university (for the most part it was due to COVID-19).

I came back to my country (Uzbekistan) in the beginning of 2020. On the march of 2020, the lockdown began in Uzbekistan. So, I though why wouldn’t I use my time at home to study and learn programming languages more deeply and enrolled to several online courses.

After the lockdown, I immediately ran into looking for a job in my hometown (Namangan) because it was already unbearably boring at home. I landed my job at not in the field if IT, it was a weaving factory. Meanwhile I was still learning programming in depths and seeking for a job opportunity as a software engineer. Year passed, I was doing good and my current position at weaving factory but inside me still was a hope that I would find a job as a software engineer.

One day when I was scrolling current IT job openings in Uzbekistan. I came across of a Payme’s listing. They were looking for internship candidates. I hurried to apply because I knew that Payme is one of the best companies in Uzbekistan. So, I got my opportunity to be in the internship program.

After I landed my first job as a software engineer at a local tech giant. I was nervous but excited to start my career. I quickly learned that being a software engineer requires not only technical skills but also collaboration, problem-solving, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members.

Over the 2 years, I've worked on a variety of projects. I've faced my fair share of challenges, including tight deadlines and complex coding problems, but I've also experienced the satisfaction of seeing a project through to completion and delivering something that makes a difference for users.

Looking back, I'm grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have led me to where I am today. Being a software engineer is a challenging and rewarding career, and I'm excited to share my insights and tips with all of you through this blog.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to sharing more with you soon!
